Scudamore taken to hospital after heavy fall

TOM SCUDAMORE was taken to hospital on Saturday after with a suspected injury to his shoulder or chest after falling from Abracadabra Sivola at Uttoxeter.

Scudamore, 33, won two races at the Cheltenham Festival including the Ryanair World Hurdle on Thistlecrack, who he described as the best horse he has ever ridden.

The rider was also on the mark at Uttoxeter on Saturday with Justatenner for Thistlecrack’s trainer Colin Tizzard, but took a heavy fall from Abracadabra Sivola in the following 3m handicap chase.

A spokesman for Uttoxeter said: “Tom Scudamore was able to walk away from his fall on Abracadabra Sivola but he has been stood down for the remainder of the afternoon as he may have sustained a shoulder injury or chest problem. He has gone to hosptial for further checks.”
