Schiaparelli yearling, half-brother to Bold Henry
A well-grown and strong specimen, this colt would appear to have every chance of growing into a tremendous NH prospect.
Out of the Overbury mare Madam Min, she is the dam of the useful chaser Bold Henry. Trainer by Philip Hobbs and owned by J P McManus, Bold Henry was placed on bumper debut, won an Exeter maiden hurdle and then developed into a 144-rated two-mile chaser, registering wins at Sandown and Cheltenham.
In addition to quality relations on the distaff side, this youngster is a product of one of the most upwardly mobile NH sires currently in service. Schiaparelli was a five-time Grp-1 winner during a career that saw him trained in Germany and Newmarket, and thrived from a mile and a half all the way up to two miles.
His first progeny started appearing in season 2015/16 and it has taken little time for the sire to prove that he stamps his offspring with the quality and durability required to excel in the NH sphere. His best runners include the Listed-placed hurdler Angels Antics, the dual winning 130-rated hurdler Is She Diesel and the triple winner and Listed-fourth Whatmore. What excites is what these young horses will do once they are tasked with tackling fences – a strong and imposing sire it seems sure that Schiaparelli’s reputation will soar once his progeny start going chasing in larger numbers.
Sons of Monsun are increasingly fashionable in NH bloodstock circles thanks to the exploits of Getaway, yet Schiaparelli offers a far more affordable opportunity to buy into the line. This remains an excellent time to buy his young stock. As this yearling also boasts a classy sibling on the dam side.
