Gate Please produced a very pleasing performance on his debut for us and Rebecca Curtis at Fontwell Park on Saturday.
Ridden by AP McCoy, Gate Please finished second to the the odds on favourite and pulled well clear of the remainder. We have always thought a lot of this former Irish point to point and bumper winner and after 388 days since his last run we were delighted with the way he travelled and jumped.
As expected he was given a great ride by AP and once headed, AP just eased him down and coasted him home with the others well beat. AP was very impressed with the feel Gate Please gave him and his thoughts were, although he’ll be a decent hurdler, chasing his where he will excel.
Gate Please was always going to come on for the run after such a lay off and Rebecca left a fair bit to work and he rates an exciting prospect for novice hurdles this season.
