Simon got into racing at a very young age through his grandfather and has always been a keen studier of the form book and watching the video replays of races which allows him to form his own opinions.
After years of managing shops for William Hill he worked on a temporary basis in the close football season as the racing correspondent for BBC Radio Suffolk. This temporary job lasted four years in which he previewed the day’s racing and commented on the topics at the time. Through this and other preview work he became an odds compiler for an national bookmaker and was solely responsible for that company’s racing tissues issued early in the morning.
He is a keen follower of the breeding aspect of racing which has long given clues with regards horses handling certain types of going, tracks, surfaces etc.
